KACCH Philosophy
| We
believe in the rights of the child as declared in
the UN Charter on Children’s Rights which
was signed on behalf of Kuwait by His Royal Highness
the Amir of Kuwait in 1989. We
believe that the unique needs of the hospitalised
child should be considered within the context
of the family unit.

We believe that the provision
of appropriate play opportunities in hospital can facilitate
healing when used as a strategy for coping, communication
and self-expression, and is essential for the optimal
growth and development of the hospitalised child.
We believe that relationships
with children and their families in hospital should
be based on trust, respect and professional competence.
We believe that whilst
in hospital, children and their families have the right
to emotional support, information they can understand,
and quality health care.
We believe in the importance
of communicating observed and documented needs of the
child in hospital with other health care professionals.
We believe that Child
Life practice should be an essential part of the provision
for all hospitalised children.
We believe that Child
Life practice should be based on internationally recognised
professional qualifications and standards.
We believe in the value
of education and research to ensure the development
of all aspects of the Child Life profession.
We believe that children
with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions should
have access to appropriate paediatric palliative care
in the setting they and their families prefer, whether
that is the hospital, home or children’s hospice.
